Support for advocacy campaigns to protect the interests of young people in Poland

We support advocacy campaigns that protect the interests of Ukrainian and local youth in Poland. These are initiatives that help young people to be heard, participate in public life, and influence decisions that directly affect them.

Through this support, we create space for cooperation between young people in Poland and Ukraine. In the current circumstances, this is particularly important for the development of solidarity, mutual understanding, and a shared future.

WE HAVE SUPPORTED SUCH CAMPAIGNS SO FAR:
2026
  • Advocacy campaign about changes in legislation regarding the legal stay of Ukrainians in Poland
The draft law concerning the legal status of beneficiaries of the current special law on the stay of Ukrainians in Poland was sent for consultation during the New Year holidays, giving civil society organizations only a few days to submit written comments on important changes to the legality of Ukrainians' stay. This violates basic standards of public consultation and significantly limits the meaningful participation of civil society organizations and individuals directly affected by these changes. The argument that the law must enter into force by the beginning of March 2026 is not a sufficient justification for such a short consultation period. We call for the consultation period to be extended to ensure that NGOs and other stakeholders have a real, rather than an illusory, opportunity to participate in this process. Public consultations should be a real tool for dialogue, not a formality. On August 24, the Alliance 24/08 signed a letter from civil society organizations to Polish state institutions.

The campaign is being implemented by a coalition of Polish NGOs Mapuj Pomoc, where the Alliance is a member
