Trainings to counter disinformation

These are interactive trainings and workshops based on real cases of disinformation operations used by Russia to weaken bilateral relations between Ukraine and Poland, but their scope can also be expanded - disinformation is also being used to destabilize the European Union and for other purposes. Participants in our training courses work with real examples of fakes, manipulation, and information influence techniques circulating in the media and social networks, learning to recognize their structure, techniques, objectives, and channels of dissemination.

The objectives of such training are:
  • to increase the information resilience of citizens, young people, journalists, activists, and representatives of institutions;
  • to teach methods for quickly and effectively verifying information;
  • to show the mechanisms used by Russian propaganda to try to sow discord between Poland and Ukraine;
  • to strengthen critical thinking skills and safe use of media content;
  • to support the development of local initiatives aimed at combating disinformation;
  • to increase Poland's readiness to counter hybrid threats.

The training program was developed by experts with many years of research and practical experience in the field of information security, fact-checking, strategic communication, and countering hostile influences, taking into account the nuances of the current geopolitical situation in the region and around the world. As a result, the training combines a systematic and modern approach to ensure high engagement in countering disinformation and enhance other pre-bunking efforts.

The Alliance operates not only in Warsaw — we are ready to conduct such training in other regions of Poland, both in large cities and small places, where the need for information resilience is no less important. In addition, the training program is currently being adapted in cooperation with leading Polish organizations specializing in civic education in schools.

In March 2026, after several months of adapting the training program to the specific characteristics of the Polish school education system, our organization launched pilot trainings to counter disinformation for middle school students in small towns across Poland. This initiative is being carried out in collaboration with the Polish Robert Schuman Foundation.
This material was produced with the support of the European Union under the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values program. The European Union’s support for this material does not constitute an endorsement of its content, which reflects solely the views of the authors; neither the European Union nor the European Commission can be held liable for any use of the information contained herein.

The training sessions focus on countering disinformation aimed at discrediting the European Union. During the sessions, school students learn about basic disinformation techniques using real-life examples, as well as gain a basic understanding of how the European Union’s institutions and mechanisms function.

The training program focuses on practical exercises that help develop critical thinking and information analysis skills among young people.
SO FAR, AS PART OF THE PILOT PROGRAM, WE HAVE CONDUCTED TRAINING SESSIONS IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS:
MIELEC
(Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship)
March 13, 2026
The Prof. Janusz Groszkowski School Complex

The training sessions were conducted for two groups of students: a military class and a technical class (first year of middle school). Both groups consisted of about 15 students, and each session lasted 90 minutes, including breaks.
We also conduct training sessions on countering disinformation for Ukrainian youth outside Warsaw, exploring disinformation as a tool for destabilizing bilateral relations between Ukraine and Poland.
